Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, met with World Bank Vice President for South Asia Region, Martin Raiser, to discuss key power sector reforms and initiatives. Awais Leghari emphasized the need for World Bank funding and investment in installing smart meters at the distribution transformer level to improve transparency and ensure equitable load management. He highlighted the benefits of smart meters, particularly in managing peak demand and providing relief to efficient consumers, while inviting the World Bank to explore public-private partnerships in smart metering projects for LESCO and MEPCO.

Martin Raiser praised the reform initiatives, supported the proposal for smart meter installation, and committed to continued collaboration. Both parties agreed to enhance technical interactions and expedite the utilization of World Bank funds for better implementation and policy-making in the power sector.\
